BLISTERS

Anyone who has broken-in a fresh pair of heels knows this pain. These painful, fluid-filled lesions are generally caused by friction and pressure from shoes that are too small, stiff, or from wrinkled socks rubbing against your skin.

How to avoid them:

  • Keep your feet dry
  • Add soft cushioning between your skin and the back of the shoe/wherever is causing friction.

CALLUSES

This build-up of skin develops on the bottom and sides of the foot from repeated pressure or friction against bony areas or an irregularity in a shoe.

How to avoid/alleviate:

  • Wear supportive shoes with ample space for your toesies
  • Opt for low heels as much as you can
  • Use a callus remover tool (hint - Cali will take care of that for you totally pain + mess-free in minutes!)

HEEL PAIN

Inflammation of the connective tissue between your heel to the ball of your foot (planter fascia) can cause achy feet. Thinking about all of our mommas-to-be who find their feet aching more than ever! This is caused primarily by over-stretching of the planter fascia, muscle imbalance or tightness of the muscle at the back of the leg.

How to avoid/alleviate:

  • Always warm-up and stretch before exercise
  • Wear fitted shoes
  • RICE [Rest, ice, compression + elevation]

INGROWN NAILS

This condition causes the nail to grow into the surrounding skin, which can lead to painful inflammation and can even become infected if not treated properly. This is often a hereditary condition, but can be caused by tight pointy shoes or improper nail cutting.

How to avoid/alleviate:

  • Cut nails straight across, slightly rounding at the corners
  • Use a pedicure device like Lola to to keep your nails smooth
  • Visit a podiatrist (foot doctor) to consider removing part of the nail
