5 DIY Beauty Treatments from Your Pantry

Looking to pamper yourself today? Look no further than your kitchen! That’s right, your kitchen! Everyone deserves a little beauty treatment and we’ve got just what you need for an affordable and low-maintenance aka no-need-to-leave-your-house (or your jammies) beauty sesh.


1. Lip Plumping Gloss



Pucker up, beauties! Achieve plump and rosy lips with two natural ingredients – cinnamon and Vitamin E! Mix half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon with a tiny drop of Vitamin E into a paste then gently apply to your lips by rubbing in circular motions for 5 to 10 minutes. The mixture will also help exfoliate and treat dry, chapped lips. Add honey, which with its antibacterial properties, will help prevent the development of cracked lips.

2. Hair Mask for Dry

Dyed your hair one too many times? Simply suffer from dry, damaged hair? Your locks get thirsty too! Thirsty hair can be quenched with coconut oil (seriously, what CAN’T this stuff do!) Coconut oil has many beauty uses but is great for locking moisture back into both skin and hair. Apply the oil to your hair, starting at your scalp in a massaging motion. Sleep with the hair mask at least one night a week to notice a difference in the texture of your hair and be prepared for some of the shiniest locks ever!

3. Relieve Tired Eyes



Late nights, ex-boyfriends, and Nicholas Sparks novels all have a tendency to swell up our eyes a bit. Say goodbye to puffy eyes and dark circles! Simply soak two tea bags in warm water and then chill the bags for a few minutes in the refrigerator before applying one back to each eye for about 5 minutes. (Make sure the bags are still slightly damp and about room temperature or cooler.) The caffeine in the tea will shrink the appearance of blood vessels and the antioxidants will help cut out any inflammation. Voila!

4. Cellulite Reducer



To help reduce the appearance of those pesky dimples, look no further than these two ingredients: Coffee grounds and olive oil! In an air-tight jar, mix 1 cup of coffee grounds and 8 tablespoons of olive oil (or enough to make a paste.) Massage the scrub onto skin in a circular motion before rinsing. Store the mixture for up to two weeks and repeat every time you shower for best results!

What makes this mixture successful? Well, first off – It takes consistency. You probably won’t notice a difference until about 2 months of consistent use, but your skin will be noticeably smoother after just one application! The caffeine in coffee grounds does more than just keep you from catching Z’s in Monday morning meetings. When applied as a scrub, it stimulates circulation and tightens skin! The antioxidants in the coffee will also make the skin supple, smooth, and youthful looking.

5. Achieve Soft, Beachy Waves


Days at the beach often include sunshine, salt, and waves – both in the ocean and in your hair! Don’t live close to a beach? Don’t worry, you can still achieve those just-left-the-beach tousled waves with this simple DIY sea salt spray! Pour warm water and sea salt into a spray bottle. Give it a gentle shake or two until the salt has dissolved. Then add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil to your spray bottle. Shake again and there you go! You’ve got homemade sea salt spray. Just apply to towel-dried hair and embrace those waves without ever having to hit the beach!
