Self Love Q+A with Kara

In celebration of Mother's Day, we asked mom and beauty blogger, Kara Lewis Newton some juicy questions about her beauty routine, self love and building confidence from the inside out. There is so much wisdom and inspiration in her answers, we hope you love this interview as much as we do!

What does your skincare routine look like right now?

"My skin routine is a scared time of the day. I really take time in the morning and the evening make sure that I get all the good stuff on my face. It's also a nice time for self care and relaxation. I always make sure I cleanse my skin super well with either my Isla or Cora 3. I use good products and good tools so I can feel good about what I'm presenting to the world."

What’s the best beauty advice you can give?

"As cliche as it sounds, beauty is not about outward appearance, it's more about confidence.  The most beautiful women in my life are the ones who are sure of who they are and they don't need anyone else to tell them. Also, remembering that there are no rules! At the end of the day is about doing what you like and what makes you feel good, because that translates to beauty!"

When do you feel the most confident?

"I feel the most confident when I’m engrossed in something that I’m passionate about. I also feel confident when I'm surrounded with people I love and who love me. Accomplishing hard things or goals that I've set for myself has definitely boosted my confidence SO much in the last few years too."

Do you feel your self-confidence has grown with age?

"Absolutely. I'm not the same person I was a year ago, three years ago, ten years ago. When you continually do things that scare you, that are out of your comfort zone, you show yourself you can do them and it helps you improve your confidence. It comes with age in a sense, because these things can take time to do, but of course we can start doing these things at an earlier age to get more confidence then too!"

Do you have any advice for aging confidently?

"It can be so tempting as you age, to become critical. I think when you age gracefully, you learn to give yourself grace. That means not talking negatively of yourself and critiquing yourself constantly. I think aging gracefully is learning how to speak lovingly and positively about yourself, there's nothing more graceful about that."
